Eye exam at Oak City Vision Center

Annual, comprehensive eye examinations are one of the most crucial parts of preventive health care. Luckily, it is one of the easiest organs to have examined and only needs to be done so once a year!

Numerous eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms, so you might not be aware a problem exists.  In fact, an abundance of eye-related issues and diseases do not cause visual symptoms or disturbances until later, progressed stages.

Early diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision problems can help prevent vision loss.

A vision screening (reading a letter chart at an annual physical exam) is not equivalent to an annual eye exam.

At Oak City Vision Center, your vision and eye health will be checked extensively.

Contact Lenses

Contact Lens at Oak City Vision Center

Contact lenses are worn comfortably by millions of people worldwide and have a long history of providing wearers with a safe and effective form of vision correction.

At Oak City Vision Center, Dr. Augustino can fit you in many different types of contact lenses from specialty and hard lenses, to extended wear and soft lenses, permitting you are a candidate.

While contact lenses provide many vision benefits, they are not risk-free.  At Oak City Vision Center we help patients better understand how to get the full benefits of contact lenses and reduce the chances of developing problems or infections.

A diabetic eye exam is a detailed evaluation of the health of your retina  (the inside layer of your eye) and other parts of the eye that can be affected by diabetes.

Diabetic retinopathy, a leading cause of blindness among American adults, occurs when blood vessels inside the eye start to leak.  Left untreated, the leakages worsen over time and lead to varying levels of blindness.  Early detection and treatment can often save part or all of your eyesight.  This is why your diabetic eye exam is so important and should never be missed!

To ensure that proper management of your diabetes is communicated with all providers involved in your care, Dr. Augustino will send a report your primary care doctor or endocrinologist after your diabetic eye exam.  You are our top priority!

Oak City Vision Dry Eye Disease

Dry eye is a condition in which a person doesn't have enough quality tears to lubricate and nourish the eye. Tears are necessary for maintaining the health of the front surface of the eye and for providing clear vision.

People with dry eyes may experience irritated, gritty, scratchy or burning eyes; a feeling of something in their eyes; excess watering; and blurred vision, amongst other things.

Treatments aim to restore or maintain the normal amount of tears in the eye to minimize dryness and related discomfort and to maintain eye health.

Had the best experience here! First, they don’t have the annoying air puff machine and measure pressures much nicer. Very affordable and cute frames without insurance coverage (got 2 pairs). Doctor was very thorough and patient answering questions I had. Will be referring all my friends and family here! Simba, the office dog was a nice touch as well and made me feel less anxious.
