Dr. Bianca Augustino
Dr. Bianca Augustino is the Owner and Optometrist at Oak City Vision Center. She is a Board Certified Optometrist licensed in the states of North Carolina and New York.
She grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee where she had her eyes set on the medical profession and healthcare delivery from an early age. This desire lead her to East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN where she received her Bachelors of Science in Public Health with a focus in Healthcare Administration. Following completion of her undergraduate degree, Bianca obtained her Doctorate of Optometry (OD) degree at Inter-American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry.
Upon completing her Doctorate, Dr. Augustino decided to begin her career in New York City where she saw patients in over fifteen different clinic settings. After some time in the city, she realized the south was where she wanted to ultimately land and decided on Raleigh, North Carolina.
Dr. Augustino has published editorials for Women in Optometry Magazine, VSP, NewGradOptometry, and Optometric Insights covering various topics. An avid conference attendee and networking opportunistic, she currently serves on The Vision Councils Young Professionals Advisory Board as a contributing doctor.
When she's not growing her business or seeing patients, Dr. Augustino enjoys snuggling her dog Simba, cycling, playing tennis, and trying new food in the Triangle.

If you are ever find yourself in a conversation with Dr. Augustino for too long, you are likely to hear about her love for the earth.
As a small business owner, Dr. A quickly realize some of the easiest ways to cut costs was through unrecyclable materials and single use plastic. She decided to challenge this by a few methods:
1. Replacing plastic bags with paper,
2. Creating a system for patients to refill their lens cleaner bottles rather than tossing them for another,
3. Incentivizing contact lens wearers to recycle their lenses and the small packages they come in,
4. Transitioning her optical to strictly biodegradable, environmentally-conscious frames.
While only 30% of the optical shop is currently achieving that goal, Dr. Augustino is on a mission to achieve over 90% by 2023. Because of that she and her staff are continuously exploring new frame lines that are being produced with the environment at the forefront of the design.
